Passover and Communion

Bible Text: Exodus 12:1-13, 24-32 | Preacher: Pastor Daniel Roels | Series: Exodus Series A special service, we’ll be celebrating communion and remembering the story of Jesus right alongside the story of the Passover. Jesus was the firstborn Son of God and was sacrificed to protect and liberate us. Other sacrifices protected the ancient Israelites and led them to freedom. The Israelites were to mark time by the Exodus event and Christians mark time by Jesus birth, life, death, and resurrection. All the connections show that the Old and New Testaments are one story and tell us of one faithful God whom we can trust

Living In A Pluralist Society – Pastor Bassam Madany

Bible Text: I Corinthians 8:4-6 | Preacher: Pastor Bassam Madany Please welcome Pastor Bassam Madany who will be the guest preacher while Pastor Dan is on vacation. Today’s scripture:  Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.” For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”—  yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.

What If Obedience to God Makes Life Harder?

Bible Text: Exodus 5-6:1 | Preacher: Pastor Daniel Roels | Series: Exodus Series As we live our suburban Chicago lives, it’s easy to settle in for the comforts of homes, jobs, family nearby, church going, and the stable rhythm of the years. But what if God calls us to change something? Surely since it’s His Will, when we obey, things will go smoothly… right? But actually no. God’s Will stands in opposition to a sinful world and our own sinful hearts, so obedience will meet resistance. Do you have the courage to see God glorified?

A Discomfitting Discipleship

Bible Text: Matthew 8:18-22 | Preacher: Pastor Daniel Roels On this second Sunday of vision renewal month, I’ll be addressing the topic of discipleship, that is, how we live in a way that obeys Jesus. To do so is more difficult than we can grasp when we first respond to Jesus’ call, but that never excuses us from continually being led and getting better at walking His way. What’s your next step?
